Sometimes its really hard to see that He is working things out. For instance we’ve just had emails from 2 friends who are going through some tough times, the frustration in the emails speak volumes and it can be hard to see God working all things together at all. But we read that He does and and so we trust that He does, however hard it is to see when we are in the midst of tough times. I
was told a story of a police operation to control riots in London some years back, the police on the ground complained that the operation was a failure that they spent the whole day being sent from road to road and blockade to blockade with no sense of control or purpose. In the days following however they were replayed a video shot from a helicopter which showed just how the rioters were shepherded by the police into a contained area and the control centre had used the police on the ground as a shepherd uses a sheep dog. There was control even through (and because of) the perceived chaos on the ground.

Here in Ramsdorf at the Old School it is rather easier to see God at work, either through the people who have come to help or minor miracles. We arrived here on the hottest day in the world ever (I think that’s official, it certainly felt like it) and after a quick jump in the lake we helped unload a truck that had been driven by 2 great guys from Kassel (4 hours away) we unloaded beds, kitchen appliances, chairs, tables etc etc which had been given to the guys here. The guys then tell Markus that they have another van load back in Kassel and if we would be prepared unload again when they get back we can have that too. So they drive 4 hours to load up again and drive another 4 hours back (arriving at 3am) where we unload and then they drive again in order to have the van back to Hertz by 7am. These guys are not part of the community that will be here but they can see that God is in this and so spent 24hrs driving furniture across Germany on the hottest day of the year. The next day we discover that against all the odds we now have limited electricity and water, (a much appreciated miracle), and 10 Austrians arrive for the day to help clean… Markus has also had emails from YWAM offering to send 30 Americans to help, and an offer of a free 7 seater minibus! God is so obviously in this you’d have to be stupid or the most radical of atheists not to see it and we are very happy to be a part what’s happening.
