February 5th 2007 Evan You know I’m really funny, well, now I’ve found a few a new funny game to play – Mummy likes me to get myself dressed in the morning, but I much prefer it when Daddy helps me. So the last few mornings I decided to just take all my clothes of and then not put any more on! I like not wearing any clothes so that’s ok!
The other trick is to pretend I don’t know how to put them on and put them on in strange ways! I’ve been having lots of fun!
But, now I have a problem, the last 2 mornings everyone else has been starting breakfast without me while I walk around entertaining them with my new game - you know no clothes, hiding in silly places... They don’t seem to notice though, I suppose they are too busy eating, so this morning I decided to put my clothes on and got to breakfast before they had finished – I’m so clever!! Mimi Here’s a picture of me without my tooth – yeh! And for those who don't mind icky things a picture of my tooth!!

It fell out onto my toothbrush as I was cleaning my teeth one day and the Macedonian tooth fairy brought me some lovely shiny denars. I spent them the same day on sweets for me and Evan and some hairclips (those were just for me!). Evan My bike is cool...
For Christmas I got a new bike (2 wheels instead of 3) and today we went to try it outside (oh and Mimi brought hers too) I was really good and I went really fast! I had to keep out of Mimi’s way as she was all wobbly on her bike. The best bit was making Mummy run to keep up with me because I was enjoying going really far ahead of everyone!
I love school
WOW ‘school’ is so much fun!! Last week Mimi and me kept asking Mummy what she was going to put in our bedroom for schooltime because we were so excited. When we woke up on Monday morning it was amazing…there was a train in our bedroom!! WOW! And not just an ordinary train like Thomas, no, Mummy told us it that it was a Magic Book Train. So this week we’ve been to Mr Happy’s Library to help him tidy up after Mr Muddle and to meet Mr Stripey one of Happyland’s happy worms; Italy to Chef school where we got to play with pasta (just like Spencer); Fairytale land; and to the jungle to see the Selfish Crocodile. It’s really cool, Mummy drives the train in schooltime and we get to drive it after school to wherever we want! Am I a genius? One of my favourite things to do is spelling words. It’s really easy – you just say the letters in the word. Like ‘yogt’ and ‘box’ and now I can make the words on our fridge because Mimi and me put all the sticky letters on there. And now I’m learning to read to, I have some words and even my own reading book (well Mimi has one why can’t I?!) Daddy thinks I’m a genius, but Mummy says that’s only because Daddy can’t do spelling!! And now I’ve even got my own reading book AND I can read lots of words in it!! Soon I’ll be just like Mimi! I am NOT a brother!
By the way I’m not a brother, I’m a person!! Mimi keeps calling me her brother and I don’t like it! I’m not sure what a brother is but I’m sure I’m not one, it doesn’t sound like much fun! Mummy and Daddy keep telling me that brothers are cool things to have, but I’ve decided not to believe them just yet. Mimi I know Christmas was ages ago now, but I remembered I haven’t told you about what fun we had so here are some of the best bits:
Wellies on the balcony About 1 week before Christmas we wrote Farmer Christmas a letter (well I did mine and Mummy wrote Evan’s!) to tell him what we would like in our great big sacks. Then we put the letters in our wellies and put them on the balcony…Mummy and Daddy said that one of his helpers would come to collect the letters and take them back to Farmer Christmas… and when we woke up next morning I went to check if they’d collected the letters and was really surprised to find that they had taken the letters AND left us some sweets!! I love Farmer Christmas! Christmas Day We had loads of fun on Christmas day. I'm not sure which I like best, opening hundreds of presents, or eating as much chocolate as I want! We have some very kind Aunties, Uncles, Grandparents and friends who sent us presents all the way from England (& Scotland) and we loved them all. If that's you I'm sending you big hugs & kisses right now! Also we have some lovely friends here and they gave us presents too - we had some of these friends over for dinner on Christmas day which was good fun and we tried to make them eat as much as they could and then some more so they really got that Christmas day feeling!! And of course Farmer Christmas came to visit (I'm glad he knew that we'd moved!). Hooray! I win! Mummy keeps telling me that I’m not allowed to get any bigger, and that maybe she should stop feeding me!! I always told her that whatever she said I’m AM going to grow up one day and now I know it’s true…
I have a wobbly tooth, yippee!! It’s so much fun! I keep thinking about what it will look like when it’s gone and the big tooth is here and what patterns my teeth will make!! But now Mummy has to cut up my bread into little squares because it hurts to bite it! Midnight feast
Not last Saturday but the one before that it was New Year’s Eve. Mummy and Daddy told me this was when we were finishing one year and starting a new one, so it sounded exciting. To celebrate they let us stay up a bit later and we watched a film while having a ‘midnight’ feast – you know sweets, crisps, sweets, cake, sweets… oh and some cucumber sticks! Then we had to brush our teeth lots and it was the end of the old year. The next day Mummy gave me 3 challenges for this year (2007):
- To learn to ride my bike without the little wheels (I think I can keep the big ones!)
- To learn to swim without armbands (I can nearly do this already) and
To learn to tie my shoelaces (Daddy has to teach me this as Mummy does it backwards!!)
This was really exciting so all I have to do now is wait for Daddy and Mummy to teach me all these things!
Watch out here I come... Yippee! Today Daddy took the little wheels off my bike and we went outside to try it out. They said I was really good, but Daddy kept letting go which I didn’t think was a really good idea, so I made a yelping noise so that he knew!! It was so much fun (except the falling off – ow!) and I can’t wait to do it again. Mimi Sorry I haven’t written much lately, but Evan and I have been really busy…we had a real doctor’s surgery set up in our bedroom, with real plasters, and bandages. Once we’d passed Mummy’s really hard tests (like telling her what the parts of our bodies are called) and qualified as 1st Doctors(I think that’s the word she used) and then Surgeons (that’s great you get to cut people open and stuff, but Mummy wasn’t too keen on me using scissors on Evan…not sure why) we had lots of patients to see. There were broken legs, breathing problems, spotty people and all sorts of other things. So we had a lot to do. It was great fun, but Daddy wasn’t too keen on Evan dressing up in my nurses outfit, so it’s probably best that we’ve closed it now. Oh but I haven’t told you the best bit. We have a Doctor’s thing that you hear people’s hearts with and one day I had to listen to Teddy-Sponge-Clean’s heart as he had come in for a check-up. And do you know what I discovered? I found out that he’s actually REAL, I actually heard his heart. I was so excited by this. (Of course I knew that anyway, but to hear his heart…WOW!) Christmas is here Christmas is here, yeh! On Saturday Daddy went into town and bought us a tree and we went with Mummy to one of those shops she doesn’t like buying stuff in and bought some tinsel and bobbles. Then later on we got to put the stuff onto the tree. It was really good fun. I love Christmas. Today in ‘School’ we started learning about Christmas. The best bit was when Mummy brought out a big bucket full of clothes for dressing-up and Evan and I dressed up as all the different people in the story of baby Jesus. I liked being the Angel best. It was also fun wearing a cushion tied onto me with a belt, pretending that baby Jesus was in my tummy. Evan I did it, I really did it! I JUMPED! Mummy decided that it really was time I learnt to jump so we have been practicing lots (although I didn’t really want to) and then one day I just did it. Now I want to practice every day – soon I’ll be jumping off the sofa and the beds, I’m so glad Mummy taught me how to jump!! My favourite word… I’m trying to be really difficult for Mummy and Daddy at the moment, seeing how much I can get away with (not doing!). So when they say that I have a choice and I want to be awkward (for example – They want me to get dressed before breakfast, and I don’t want to…who wants to wear clothes…so they say I can either go and get dressed on my own or bring them my clothes and they’ll help me) so I say (in the grumpiest voice I can do) “NUFFING”. But I don’t know how I still seem to end up wearing clothes by the time I eat my breakfast…did they not hear me?!! Sometimes Mummy and Daddy take us out on our bikes to cycle on the path by the river. I really like this, but it also makes me cross. Why? Well my legs have grown a bit now, so Daddy tells me to push the pedals round and then he stops pushing me with the stick, but this means I have to use my nice long legs. Oh no!! No-one told me that's waht would happen...maybe longs legs aren't such a good idea after all!
Mimi It was really funny the other night – Mummy was out and Daddy had cooked us sausages (with ketchup) for dinner. The next morning Mummy told me that when she came back she cooked her own dinner and was looking for the ketchup but couldn’t find it anywhere. Then she asked me whether I knew where it was…well I said yes, but then had to explain why, oops!! While Daddy was clearing up the dinner table I had taken the tomato ketchup off the table and run into my bedroom with it. I hid it in the drawer next to my bed so I could have some in the night!!! I’m glad Mummy found it funny! So what do I get up to every day, well these are some of the things I like doing the most at the moment: Reading – I can read pretty much anything I want now, like One fish, two Fish, Miffy, The Little Red Hen, The Ugly Duckling, lots of Mr Men books, oh and Mummy’s emails!! (ssh!) Playing with my dolly, Annie – the other day it was even her birthday, so I planned her party by writing a list of what we needed (including games and party food), made invitiations, wrapped up her presents, got dressed in my party dress and then Mummy helped us do the party. We played Musical bumps, statues and chairs (well, cushions) and had a lovely birthday tea including a birthday cake with 3 sparklers on it. I really lovely Annie’s party and was really happy (just look at the photos!) Mummy says that Annie is only allowed one birthday a year, but I’m sure it’s teddy’s birthday next week, so that’s ok!! I also like playing at being a teacher with my dolly, teddies and Barbies. But best of all, I love ballet. Most days I wear my beautiful tutu that Nana gave me and I like to watch my ballet lessons on DVD as much as Mummy will let me (which isn’t as much as I would like). I want to be a ballet teacher when I grow up! Next Mummy is going to teach me how to knit – I want to knit Annie a little snugly blanket as she doesn’t have one. (Mummy told me to say that you can stop laughing now Auntie Yvonne!!)
It’s not all fun and games here though, you know, Mummy (and now Daddy as well) make us suffer school…but it’s not all bad. Did you know the last few weeks we’ve had a Zoo in our bedroom?! Really! We had lions, tigers, monkeys, farm animals, loads of birds, a snake and even a play area. We also had a Zoo shop where you could buy your ticket and a toy after your visit. (The Zoo) (Cage for dangerous animals) (Playpark) One day when we were learning about birds Mummy gave us each an egg to look after (we blew out the middle first with a straw) and we had to pretend it had a real baby bird inside. First we had to make something to keep it safe while we carried it round as we had to take it everywhere with us. I really looked after mine and made sure it was safe, but Evan decided it was more fun to play with his and at lunchtime was rolling it around the table and nearly dropping It on the floor lots. It was a shame though as I had been out with Mummy on my scooter for a little bit and Evan had decided to help look after my egg while I was out…well I expect you can guess what happened. Yes, that was the end of that game!! At least I learnt something from it though – don’t ask Evan to baby-sit!!
Another day loads of animals had escaped from the Zoo and we had to find them and put them in a cage to take them back to the Zoo. It was great fun – we used our talkie-talkies to tell each other what we had found and a magnifying glass to look really carefully under the sofa and cushions. Oh and we also made a book about Farm animals – I did some writing and pictures and Evan just did pictures. It has a front cover and a contents page as well so it really is a proper book. (Evan's bird) (My bird) We’ve had lots of fun in the Zoo, but today we had to pack it up as next week we’re going to set up something else in our room…I wonder what it will be!! Mimi Today I told Mummy that I wished we came from Germany so that we could know all the German words. Evan and I have made up our own language which we use as often as we can...usually at the dinner table or at other times we don't want Mummy to understand...but it's not quite the same. This is me singing in 'German' (wearing the halo that I made) practising for a show for Mummy.
We loved Ramsdorf... Evan Water baby I just love swimming. Now we’re staying at Markus’ school we get to go to the lake every day to cool off. It’s great – I love it when Daddy throws me up in the air and I land SPLASH into the water. Funny though, Mummy doesn’t like it when he does it to her!! And today I learnt to swim on my back, I count 1, 2 for my legs to go up and then I splash really hard and see how far I can get out into the lake before they notice I’m gone! Punk Mozart WOW! I thought the guitar was cool (and still is, I carry one round with me all the time – sometimes I strum my tummy and sometimes it’s Mummy’s arm, but there’s always a tune in my head!) but at the school I found something even bigger and even louder…a piano. The other day, while they were all busy moving stuff around I sat at the piano and payed my new tune – you just play any notes on the piano and sing “Why, why why!!” REALLY loudly. All that emotion really took it out of me so I just lay down and had a nap – how rock and roll am I?! Mimi My Friend Joey Making friends can be hard, but not with Joey. I’ve had great fun the last few days playing with my new friend. He’s 4 (so I’m the oldest), he’s German and he loves swimming and being silly like me! Even though I can’t speak German Mummy told me just to talk to him anyway so I do and it works – now we’re really good friends. Today he came to play at the school in the sand pit and to make the walls wet where our Mummy’s were working. He even helped look after me when I fell out of the sand pit and hurt my face and he sat with me until I was feeling well enough to play.
Mimi The egg tree
What a find...Evan and I keep asking what is in stuff or where does it come from and we actually managed to find an egg tree in Markus's garden (isn't home education great!) Hot air balloon race Last night Evan and I were allowed to stay up very late to go into town because there was a big party going on. I really liked the hot air balloons, so we each chose one to see which one would go up in the air first - Mummy won and I came second, Daddy lost!! This is the photo I took of Mummy's balloon.
Dinosaurs on the loose On the way back to Dresden Mummy and Daddy (although I like to call them Mum and Dad!) said they had a surprise for us as we had been such good children. I was glad that all the effort had finally paid off and was hoping for a great big double chocolate icecream, so we were a bit surprised when Harry drove us to a Dinosaur Park!!! Wow! Evan's mouth nearly touched the floor when he saw the dinosaur waiting for us outside the park.
It was great fun and I wasn't scared at all once I realised they were not real. One dinosaur even had windows and a door in his back like a Dino-house. It was really funny. There were big ones and small ones and even a giant crocodile. There were also some aliens and a giant fly! We liked the woolly mammoth, but I'm not sure why they had to throw rocks at it. I even got to dig for bones in the sand.
Evan Hair Update As Mummy and Daddy couldn't agree on how much of my hair to cut off I decided to go and get it done myself. As you can see from Mimi's reaction it didn't go down too well! Lena's Room Wow what a cool girl! We are staying in a flat at the moment (which some very kind people have let us use) and Mimi and I get to sleep and play in Lena's room. She's 2 like me and she's so cool (for a girl) - she has a real car to drive, a bike which I can touch the ground with (just) AND an electric guitar. I never want to leave!! Mimi has taken some pictures to show you.
Rugby v Football Mimi has been getting really good at football lately and plays lots with Daddy...but when I play they keep telling me off for picking up the ball and running away with it. I just don't get it - it seems like a really good idea for a game!! Daddy says there is a game called rugby which I might be better at, so Mummy has been showing me some of the moves...
---------------------------------------------------------
Mimi - Some photos I have taken myself Evan after his shower!
Evan again!
Inside the van. I am trying really hard with my homeschooling now and I am getting really good at reading, but I'd still rather ride my bike or have a water-fight!! Mimi
Jokes I made up myself… 31/05/06 Why did the dog cross the road in a buggy? Because he can’t walk (Boom, boom) Why did the cow jump over the moon to his field? Because he has no legs (Boom, boom) Why? I have a bit of a problem in that I can’t seem to stop asking questions. I don’t think Mummy realised when she decided to home-school me that she would have to be such a fount of knowledge, but I’m getting really good at making up hard questions for her to answer just to see how clever she really is…got any good ones?? I made a friend
In Amsterdam I made a friend called Kaisa, from Finland. She is crazy and funny. Evan thought she was called Tiger which we all thought suited her. We had fun riding our bikes together, dressing up and playing in the brilliant park and paddling pool near our campsite. One day I hope to visit her in Finland and see all the snow. Evan To cut or not to cut, what is your opinion? Daddy thinks I should have my hair cut like my friend Max’s. It may be because he’s feeling left out as he’s the only one of the family without long hair, but I’m not sure. Mummy doesn’t want me to have it cut as she thinks it will make me look too grown up and she likes it long. What do you think? (see cute pic) Please pray for my legs to grow Mimi spends most of her days riding her bike up and down around the van and looking really cool but it’s not fair because I can’t reach the pedals on mine. I’m doing all I can to help my legs grow by eating nearly as much as Daddy, but my legs still won’t grow. All I can do is sit on my bike making brum noises, or push Mimi’s dolly’s buggy around after Mimi (also making brum noises), but it’s just not the same – I want to look cool on my Scoop bike riding up and down the road. Please pray for my legs to grow.
"Gee, I am a real boy” When will Mummy realise that I’m a boy and boys aren’t supposed to be clean – she keeps making me have a shower, yuk! I’ve tried screaming down the shower block, running away, screaming some more and crying, but she still won’t get the message. I DON’T WANT TO BE CLEAN!!
